350wPastorTomSharpe02My faith life began with an invitation to church. It was the invitation that put me on the path of trying to understanding God and Jesus back in my early 20’s. I was invited to a Lutheran Church, but I did not know what to expect. As I look back I not sure why I was drawn to understanding God. I knew that there was more to knowing God than joining a church. I knew there was more to knowing God than subscribing to a set of doctrinal points of denomination. The major turning point for me was coming to understand the Gospel. All things came to together for me and understanding this life in understanding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. As it came together for me, I felt that God was calling me to be a Pastor. I believed and still do that God’s love in Christ Jesus changes is lives and is the mystery to this life.

Church is God's idea. It is a place to belong. Christ connects us to our Father in Heaven and He connects us to fellow believers. We were never made to go it alone. We were made for relationships. Our God intended Church to be a blessing to our lives. If you do not have a Church home, I want to encourage you to come and visit. God may have a plan to make you a part of His community here at St. Matthew.

The door is open for you and this is a place to belong.
