What about the Holy Spirit?

Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Counselor. The Holy Spirit was given as a gift. We have not earned this gift, nor do we deserve it. The Holy Spirit is not a reward for doing good works. The Holy Spirit does not come to us because we have gotten to some special place of holiness. Rather it is through the Holy Spirit that we are empowered to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit found in the words Paul wrote to the Galatians.

We are given the gift of the Holy Spirit when we receive Jesus as Our Lord and Savior. At this moment of conversion, of rebirth, and of salvation, the gift of the Holy Spirit is ours. Sometimes we let this gift lay dormant – not calling on the Holy Spirit to lead us and help us grow as a Christian.

We should always be mindful of this great gift. Call on the Holy Spirit often, so you can be an example to others, exuding love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
