The Church was God’s idea. He invented his church through Jesus Christ. Looking at ourselves it becomes obvious why this is so. We were created for relationships. A life of isolation was not God’s intent for us. In the United States today, loneliness is problematic for so many even to the extent that health problems result from isolation. Being alone goes against the grain of God’s creation.
Church at its best will bring God’s people together and nourish us and our families. Yet, in families and churches, relationship problems can arise. We can find ourselves disliking people and wanting to distance ourselves from them. Families can experience an emotional cut-off from one another just as church members can.
Our God does not just say I command you to have great relationships. He gives us what it takes to have these relationships. He does it by sharing his love with us through his son, Jesus Christ. It is the love of God in Christ that gives us the ability to love others.
God gives us the grace that is needed for all our relationships. Grace will keep us connected to one another. Grace becomes central to God’s hope and healing in our lives making for great community! The Church is where God wants to provide life at its best.
